Rum's Eg Singers-History

Rum’s Eg Singers, named after the historic old name of Romsey, first met in 2014. It all started in October of that year when, the (now sadly defunct) Rum’s Eg Gallery held two vocal workshops to add to its variety of arts activities.  From these two workshops the idea of a Rum’s Eg singing group germinated and in December 14 keen singers, many of whom had never previously sung in a choir, met to singing Christmas songs and Carols.

By January 2015 the numbers had grown to about 17. We met together to sing followed by relaxing coffee in Rum's Eg cafe. By 2016, the group had grown to nearly 30 members.

With the increase in numbers we outgrew the premises at Rum’s Eg Gallery so in the Spring moved to our current rehearsal venue, the Baptist Church in Bell St. The group continues to go from strength to strength and has now performed a number of times in the local area.
